Die Chronologie der Ereignisse wird immer wieder durch thematische Exkurse aufgelockert wie das Scheitern der High-Tech in Afrika, den Gipfelsturm am Pikes Peak oder einen Ausblick auf die geplante Gruppe S. Neben der Action auf den Wertungsprüfungen behandelt Deimel auch die Technik und die Hauptdarsteller jener Zeit.
