

Storyline: 20th Century Women (2016) 20th Century Women is a 2016 American comedy-drama film directed and written by Mike Mills. The film is set in 1970s Southern California and based in-part on Mills' childhood. The film stars Annette Bening, Elle Fanning, Greta Gerwig, Lucas Jade Zumann and Billy Crudup. The film had its world premiere at the New York Film Festival as the Centerpiece on October 8, 2016.[5] and was released on December 28, 2016, by A24.[6] The film was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards, Best Motion Picture � Musical or Comedy and Best Actress for Bening, as well as Best Original Screenplay at the 89th Academy Awards. In 1979 Santa Barbara, Calif., Dorothea Fields is a determined single mother in her mid-50s who is raising her adolescent son, Jamie, at a moment brimming with cultural change and rebellion. Dorothea enlists the help of two younger women -- Abbie, a free-spirited punk artist living as a boarder in the Fields' home and Julie, a savvy and provocative teenage neighbor -- to help with Jamie's upbringing.
